#1
Nick and Isaac give the their post trade deadline reactions. Good stuff. I don't have time to type up a summary this time, but it's a short listen if you're interested.

The Mavs-related portion is pretty short.

The Mavs almost traded Lee and the GSW pick for Danny Green, but it didn't materialize. They were alert to possibilities that various players around the league might become available, but didn't pull the trigger on anything in the end.

Think the playoff rotation will be Luka, KP, DFS, THJ, Maxi, Seth, Brunson, Wright. With Barea and Boban as wild cards. Don't think WCS will crack it, but you never know.

This season is about Luka, KP, getting the players experience together, getting healthy, seeing what they have in the playoffs. A first-round exit would be a considered a good season at this stage in their cycle.

Mavs think Courtney Lee is valuable as a locker-room presence, and Luka has spoken about that. He is well-respected and liked by his teammates. So, unless Lee wants to move to a title contender, the Mavs will probably just keep him around the rest of the season. But that could change, if they get other opportunities.

There is expected to be a lot of competition in the buyout market. If the Mavs acquire a player through that route, they will have to waive someone who is already on the roster.

The podcasters think the decision not to make a move beyond WCS was fine. Mavs want to be sure they put the right guys around Luka and KP. They might have been able to turn Lee into, say, a Justin Jackson caliber player, but they will have other opportunities to make a move of that level. At some point, they will turn some of their assets into veterans who can help with playoff runs, but they have time to work on that.

This is why it's hard to get too excited about the rest of the year. We're going to get the sloppy seconds.

If we don't get anyone in buyout, they need to start playing Lee as if he were that buyout guy. As others have pointed out, he's going to contribute more to winning than Justin. If injuries are not a problem, play the man.

That playoff rotation - five guards, one wing, and two bigs. Insert banghead smiley.

FML dude. What a freaking trade that would be. He'd be exactly what we needed right now.

The kneck injury Lee a couple of several years back has affected his play and left him a shell of his former self...
Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...
