Trade & FA 2023-24: OKC The Favorite For Nic Claxton Should He Leave BRK
From what I understand a sign and trade for Grant Williams complicates things of him coming to Dallas. I wanted to see if you could give Boston another shooter if we could make it work. Would these be possible...even in the 1% chance????

Option 1:
Miami gets Christian Wood
Boston gets Gabe Vincent
Dallas gets Grant Williams

Option 2-
Indy gets Harrison Barnes in FA or trade
Dallas gets Grant Williams
Boston gets Buddy Hield
Sacramento ???

If it's 4/160, he's starting at 35 a year and have 8% raises. He'll be at 45 in his final year

If it's a descending contract he'll start at 45 and end at 35.

On the one hand, starting at 35 almost guarantees the full MLE+BAE even if we keep McGee. On the other, a descending contract might be a better asset.

Not sure which is the best route tbh.

Grant Williams Starter kit?

Depends on the asking price. Cash and the 2030 2nd? Sold.

There is no way the Mavs turned down THJ + Holmes for Ayton, right?

That´s a salary addition of

+2
+5
+35 /when you can probably move him.

That seems crazy, if the Mavs turned that down.

if that´s the Mavs, it´s probably McGee + two 2nds, then you drop 4M in total salary for 2023/2024, which would be just enough to get Ayton for Holmes/THJ and still come out with slightly less salary to keep the MLE. On the other hand the same can be accomplished by simply s/w McGee, so that rumours is probably BS.

And now the depressing part. Mavs don´t have two tradeable 2nds. 2025 is tied up in the Knicks deal (if 2024 or 2025 firsts don´t convey the Knicks get it). Only available pick is the 2030 2nd.

How about the best of both worlds?
Dallas gives Kyrie a 4+1 contract that peaks year 3 and descends on the back end: Start Kyrie at $37.594 million, peaks in year 3 at $43.609 million with a player option in year 5 for $37.594 for a 5 yr 200 million value, that Kyrie can choose to leave at 4 yrs and a shade over $167 million. I think I would be ok with this in that it really pays market value for an All-Star caliber player, but isn't quite a true MAX.

It’s very critical the Suns re-sign Jock Landale, which they ultimately will in free agency. Not only from the perspective of filling out the roster with competent pieces, but there’s also the KD dynamic.

Durant received 8.5 ball-screens per game from Landale, almost double what he got from Ayton. It yielded 1.18 points per possession for Phoenix

If HOU doesn't find any major takers for their money this offseason, I hope they go off and throw an absurd contract of like 2/30 at Landale to ruin PHX.

That would have to be a sign-and-trade (which would lead to the question "What would the Mavs want?") or a Wood salary at $5M or less.

It would be nice if they figured out the full contractual value of the contract then go into FA and figure out the yearly based on what they are able to get in FA. Like, say they agree on $180M total contract value with 4 or 5 years being flexible. The Mavs can take all that flexibility into FA and based on what we can get, the individual years are determined from there.

If we strike out on our main targets, we make it a declining contract. If we need extra money to get a FA, he starts at a low number with raises. Something like that.

I expect it will get done by July 1. Both Kyrie and Mavs have urgency to put it to bed and move on to other things - Kyrie in Dallas wants to help them have the best opportunity for a good team.

In fact, I think Kyrie will become a significant plus in recruiting. Despite all the media angst about him (in prior stops, not here), he's influential in player circles, and has a history of being highly focused on having winning rosters.

Maybe. Maybe not. BOS won't want a pile of bad salary, and will want a little something (2030 2nd?). But if the Mavs realllllly want him and the price is not far beyond the MLE, they could piggy-back GW onto the Bertans-Holmes trade with no more salary outgoing.

In order to still have the MLE while doing that, they would have to s-w RB. (The deadline is today, but it could be moved into July by mutual agreement.)

The 2025 could be traded with conditions. That is, you get it if we have it, but if not, then _____ . Or maybe you just trade 1 2nd.

Hearing a couple of things:

Momentum to bring Harrison Barnes back to the Kings is picking up major steam. Numbers still to be worked out.

Houston has emerged as the favorite to sign Kyle Kuzma.

Isn't Brown only eligible for $7.8 million next year from the Nuggets?

Looks like tampering is starting even earlier this year lol
