Trade & FA 2023-24: Stein-Ingram Trade Inevitable| LAL Want Lebron Back On Any Terms

Yep, sounds like the Mavs, so you're probably spot on.

He is an overpaid dinosaur.

But he also does rebound well, and he's statistically a better defender the Mavs have ever had at the center position since at least 2011.

I think these stands for regular season only. His non existent offense (other than PnR) makes him just too easy to exploit in playoffs, imho

Yes. He gets abused playing drop coverage. Luka can attest to that.

Probably not even legal with this new CBA but imagine the chaos of Kyrie, Draymond, and Gobert all on the same team

First, the KP deal sucks. None of us really knew that was bad when it happened - we were all excited, really. But it was clear they needed to give up at least a full year before they did. Catastrophe #1

Then, Brunson - anyone watching knew he had to be retained. Anyone honest, at least. Catastrophe #2

Then, they trade about 80% of the small pile of assets they have left for a guy whose purpose is to replace Brunson, and while he’s got a bigger name and is absolutely talented, he is old, the very definition of volatile, and honestly I wonder if he’s even as good a fit as Brunson was. Actually, I take that back - I kinda feel like I know he’s not. And then there’s the ridiculous contract they’re about to give him - way more than Brunson’s max.

Now, and I swear I’m not even trying to be critical of @"DanSchwartzgan"’s dot connecting here, because it seems like the exact way they’d be thinking, we’re discussing using the rest of that asset pile to bring in one of the most overrated, overpriced, hard to build around dinosaurs in the game. There was a time I would’ve stuck up for Gobert, but he seems to be on the decline at this point, regardless of where we all fell on the debate before.

I can’t even process how bad this franchise is.

I've gotten to the point of just laughing, because that's all you can do. At least for me. Because if I couldn't laugh I'd just be angry all the time.

If Cleveland loses to the Knicks I hope they'll consider moving Jarrett Allen. He would be exactly what the Mavs need at center.

Dallas: THJ+10 for Allen
Cleveland: Allen for Anunoby
Toronto: Anunoby for THJ+10

I get why you guys pretend that Dwight is good. Not everyone can handle as much pain as me.

I blame my dad. Could have introduced me to any sport or franchise in the US but he had to pick the Mavs. Now it´s too late. Invested too much time and energy to pick up another sport/team.

Just so sad how much better off the franchise would be if the team moves would have been decided by a poll here the past couple years
That's ridiculous for that to be true about an organization of that size with that payroll. The incompetence is astounding

Now that's a trade I can get behind.

Sure I can convince myself (albeit poorly) that Gobert could solve a lot of Mavs issues at center, but as others have mentioned he's old, declining, and routinely disliked by teammates and opponents.

But Allen? Sure he's a dinosaur, but he's still spry AND solves all the stuff the Mavs are looking for.

Don't think the Cavs just trade him though, unless they really like whoever is at 10. Hopefully the Mavs keep the pick come lottery night.

Mitchell Robinson and Hartenstein are exposing him and Mobley on the boards, especially Robinson. Mobley is young however and he's going to be stud. They depend on their guards for most of the scoring and they have a big hole at SF. They need to get more scoring and rebounding from the bigs.

I think Allen is getting nerfed from Garland taking a massive step back right now. Luka would unlock Allen to another level if they click.

I think Mitchell Robinson is a top 5 rebounder in the league so I'm not surprised Allen is getting outrebounded by him.

How much would you guys trade (if you would) for a hypothetical Kawhi trade?

What about PG13?

Ignore the likelihood of it actually happening for conversation sake.

Just imagine that team, I think every single person would hate multiple players for multiple reasons:

Kyrie Irving
Dillon Brooks
Luka Doncic
Draymond Green
Rudy Gobert

yeah you are right, but as it stand right now, i can't laugh. i tried but the last decades were hard enough, to see cuban wasting dirk years.

And now all the fking stuff with luka.

But let me say 1 thing that will never change for me.

The Team chooses you. Its not you picking the team.

I have other teams in Sports (Mavs, Cowboys, Borussia Dortmund) that are really hard so see sometimes, but I came back to them every game/year..   That's what a true fan is.

loooool

imagine

Gobert walking around or standing at the 3 point line with no defender in 500 yards
green going crazy with some fans
luka only talking to the refs
brooks fighting against the opp players
irving trying to get everyone on his flat earth theory

I don't think this discussion makes sense without looking at the other side (Clippers). I think they want to remain contenders no matter what. Rebuild is not in question due to the nature of their owner and building of new arena. They have one of the best (if not the best) supporting casts, their problem is that their stars can't stay healthy. Three seasons in a row now.

Based on this is that the only thing that would make sense for them is another damaged or disgruntled star. If something like this is not available, they will try it one more time and hope they can finally put together a healthy playoff run. Mavs can't realistically offer that. Irving SnT is not possible due to Clippers high salaries, Luka is not that disgruntled yet. Things could get interesting if Mavs land a top3 pick in this draft. Then we could have a discussion.

I think that want to contend but are not really successful because their stars have flaws are best possible partners. Kawhi and George fit on any team. Clippers team is also constructed in a way that you can put in a player basically on any position. Their role players can defend, score. No matter what are the limitations of incoming star, they could cover for it. Two prime candidates, imho: Minnesota with KAT and Atlanta with Trae.

And Gobert and Green as a tag team punching their teammates… Gobert trying to spread the next virus to reporters. Kyrie promoting the latest antisemitic movies.

One thing‘s for sure, it would never get boring and the newspapers would always be full!
