Official Pre-Training-Camp 2019-20 Mavs Record Predictions
#1
Question
Time to pony up and get your blind predictions in for the Mavs record before training camp starts on Oct 1. We will follow up after the preseason games with a new poll and see if we have any adjustments to our predictions.

What do you say and why?

This is so hard to predict with this roster. Obviously a lot of it hinges on KP and his ability to stay healthy throughout the season, I think I'll say they win 44 games
"And Peja with the dagger."-balldontliez on 11/15/10 when Peja hit a 3 to put the hornets up 84-75 with 9 MIN LEFT!  Guess who won the game?  That's right, the mavericks." -msu15

I say 48.

I think the Mavs will be very streaky this season, putting together some impressive win streaks but then also having stretches where they struggle.

I think KP stays healthy and is fairly dominant and I think Luka takes the next step in efficiency, moving his PER up to 22-24. I think this is enough for the 15 game improvement in the win column.

I also think Delon and Seth are PERFECT complementary players in the backcourt for Luka and will prove to be ridiculous values.

Slightly above 0.500 and I am not sure if that´s enough for the playoffs. Mavs are basically starting from scratch. They probably need some time to build chemistry, establish roles and learn RCs scheme.
Considering the level of competition in the west it is really hard to judge were the Mavs end up. In the east this is probably a 50 win team.
I voted 42-44 wins...maybe slightly more if KP is back at 100% and can make an impact from day one on.

If I learned anything from the last two offseasons it is that this board tends to overrate the Mavs at this time of the year (a lot of posters were predicting 50 wins last year as well). Just like any other fanbase does with their team as well.

More than 41, dominant vs the east and at home, bad in away games.

I'm saying 45-47. In the end of the season when there are a lot of teams wanting to lose, this is the first time in 3 years that we are trying to win. I think that alone gets us about 5-7 wins.

45-47 and I would be very happy with that win total.  Mavs will have moved away from the temptation of tanking with that record.

Tankathon has the Mavs as the last pick in the lottery right now.  (So no playoffs and worst lottery pick Sad )

Hope they are wrong.

FWIW, 538.com's model has the Mavs winning 46 games and having a 66% chance of making the playoffs.

I think that is pretty good. I would assume that kind of model doesn't take into account tanking....so I think the Mavs pick up a couple more wins because of tanking at the end of the year.

I did also...I see less agendas derailing the team compared to last year...no more shoving Luka for another rebound...no more freezing out Luka and passing to a person not as capable to run an offense...no more going MIA because someone has more talent running an offense...no more vets trying to maximize their next contract...

The poll shows up also on page 2...I love this site...
Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

The Mavs first full season without a tank commander.  I wonder who will be the whipping boy this year?  Oh yeah, I just remembered.

So people were telling me I was a homer back on 247 sports, yet I chose less wins than most. I guess everyone here is a bigger homer than me?  Tongue

39-41

I don't understand why someone would be considered a hater if he thinks the team or any individual part of it is less than perfect

I think we were kind of joking about the whole hater thing because I called myself a homer (because of my prediction)
