I'm not sure he's even so limited that you'd have to call him "one-way"...dude actually has some good handles. Here's a video (by a former Mavs staffer, no less) that touches briefly on how Vanderbilt is helping the Jazz win.

I actually think the problem with adding Vanderbilt (who I agree would be PERFECT) might be that he's literally not available.
