Yeah, we are bringing in Aldridge as a defensive specialist.

10-day contract over. He never had a guaranteed roster spot.

Reminder - bringing in LMA for a workout doesn't mean he will be signed. Teams (including Mavs) do their due diligence on players when deciding if they might be useful, but the end result can go either way.

LMA has not been playing at an NBA level for quite some time. The "more likely" outcome here is that they decide he won't be a solution.

As for Morris, the statement that he's not in NBA shape is not good. Not being in "be ready" mode makes him virtually useless, because the team is very unlikely to give a 3rd teamer regular minutes of game time (that can make a difference in the standings, and that other players might also want) to ramp him up for play and get him ready. That preparation to be in shape is his job to do, on his own, and it's on him (not the team) to make it happen.

Luka, sitting out and letting himself get out of shape? Incredibly disappointing, but they will cater to that, to let him play through it. But not a 3rd-teamer.

Hopefully they have Morris on a program right now to be good after the All Star break or at least close enough that he can contribute. I absolutely agree that it's ridiculous he doesn't stay in game shape.

If you suck at it, don´t even try it? Also seems to be the approach we take on defense. Big Grin

Some good Mavs stuff along the way here, including a whole segment dedicated to Green.

Bally Sports looks like they will be filing for bankruptcy soon. I pray it results in the Mavs being back on YouTube TV eventually.

That seems like a very general phrase to trademark, but if Nike can get Just Do It, I don't see why he can't get No Concern.

I listened to the Austin Rivers Podcast on the Ringer NBA from Feb 10th.  He had some nice things to say about the Mavs.   This was before they beat us.   Said Luka was the best point guard in the league...he then said maybe second as Steph would be his #1.  But said Kyrie would be his third....then changed it to say he was in a grouping of the rest.    Said it was no doubt it was the best backcourt in the league and said it was not up for debate.

Also said he liked Green (although had trouble with his first name) and liked Hardy.   As well as some of the other role players.

Surprisingly, I thought Rivers did a good job and found it enjoyable.  It was the first time I listened to him.

Sorry if anyone has mentioned in a thread I haven't seen yet, but to me, the most disappointing aspect of the last two games - maybe three - is Josh Green falling back to earth. The Mavs planning and team-building hinges on his ability to produce, and confidence in that ability.

Great video.  Makes me feel despite being only one game above .500 that we are not far off. It probably won’t be this year though.   So get Luka and Kyrie playing off feel with each other.  Keep Kyrie sane.  Continued development of Green first and Hardy second.

Then just find smart, tough players…ideally guys above 6’7 who can defend and a younger athletic defensive center.  Then let’s go!

We were talking a few weeks ago if we should split up our first round picks instead of hoping for a star.  I didn’t think we could get a true second star.  Well we did, but one with major warts.  Now we just need to fill out the rest of the team.  I was thinking of the Minny team last year.  Max Reid undrafted, Vanderbilt second round draft pick from Denver and Jaden McDaniels late first round pick.  Maybe they are not all perfect but add those to this team (no premium assets) and what do we think now?  Those are they type of players I hope we uncover.  Let’s skip the 34 year old journeyman centers.
