Kidd going all in with head games.  Tells Wood he is starting later tonight only to start The Diamond last minute for no apparent reason.

An unfortunately strong possibility as well.

I actually liked separating THJ from Wood/Green/Dinwiddie (wouldn’t mind separating THJ from them even more…like on a different team).  It doesn’t mean I liked THJ starting.  Note that he only played 21 minutes…he got the Powell treatment.

There was a lineup in the third of Maxi/Wood/Bertans/Green/Dinwiddie that I thought played well together.  Not sure how you add Bullock to that mix let alone Walker, but that is a group I’d try to explore some more.

Breaking up the unholy trinity of DFS-SD-RB needed to happen. Good call from the coaching staff there......but so many other head scratchers....

Dwight Powell is a treasure, and I'll not tolerate any more slander. He can't rebound - I'll give people that. And, once the ball gets in the paint he tries hard but isn't that great of a deterrent inside.

HOWEVER, he ALWAYS makes the right read, the right rotation, and he moves his feet in space WAY better than most bigs, which is starting to be a significant compliment in today's game. And, of course, he has a motor that just won't stop. For those reasons, he is a GOOD defender.

Powell had a two handed rebound last night.  Excellent!

Do you have a way of splitting Dorian’s time by position?

I do not. 82games usually has something, but they have no stats for this season.

But I can tell you this:

Basically every Mav player's worst two-man lineup is with SD.

Here is DFS with and without SD:

Almost every Mav looks the same. Their minutes without SD are REALLY good.

SD's offense IMO this year has been total fools gold. He is getting his own, but at the expense of the team's overall efficiency. And defensively he has been bad, maybe the worst, causing others (like DFS) to have to cover for him. And covering for Luka (when he is being lazy) is hard enough.

And SD's impact isn't affected by Luka. He is basically the same whether with Luka or without. But Luka is WAY BETTER without SD.

I'm just not seeing this.  How is his offense at the expense of team efficiency?  He has a TS of 60%.  He is also dishing out 5 assists a game with a good assist to turnover ratio.  My eye test tells me its other guys hurting the team (McGee, Bullock, Timmy, Maxi on offense).

I don't know, man. It's tough to explain, for sure, but...MY eyes tell me that pretty much every time Dinwiddie goes for a stretch on-ball he does some good things but the team seems to lose ground on the scoreboard.

Kamm isn't exactly coming out of left field on this one, imo. I can't point to a number that proves it (other than the ones he just posted about the two-man combos, which seem significant) but intuition wise it sure seems like Dinwiddie is a sizable portion of what's not working to me.

Bullock and THJ are part of it too, obviously, but with them it's really just a matter of insane shooting slumps. That can change (and almost has to, right?), but...if this is Dinwiddie playing well and it's not contributing to success on the court then it must be something about play style...something about his teammates not being able to understand what he's going to do out there...something systemic. If so, that has the possibility of going even more south if/when those efficient numbers start to drop.

To ME, this, combined with the general idea that Dinwiddie's individual counting stats are positive, SCREAM "bring him off the bench."
