Ben Simmons was terrible again. Remember when people here were talking about wanting him on the Mavs as if he would suddenly get a new brain when he starts playing for us? He's the same scared, disinterested player he was the last time we saw him play. I don't care if it's just one game. Playing him at center or whatever role people were fantasizing about won't help when the guy is scared to do anything with the ball.

JB drawing the offensive foul. Big time stop.

Imagine dealing with Duren and Isiah Stewart on the daily. Two bruisers. And Jaden Ivey is gonna be special too.

I remember that well because it's now because I would still take him in a second.

It is only one game but during the draft process, I was confused why he was not being looked at in the 6-9 range.  In fact, when Charlotte had two firsts (early teens if I remember) I would have taken both Mark Williams and Duren.   Instead they traded the Duren pick for a future first.   I know centers are not as important these days but my message is at least one of these guys are going to be good.  And both are super athletic that they both may be good.

My quote on Duren pre-draft:

Quote:"Duren is fantastic, but I think he goes top 10 and Mavs would not have the ammo to get to him.

Tari Eason is the guy I think could fall into a range the Mavs could reach."

Criminal that he fell to #13 and Eason was massively overlooked by the GMs as well.

Charlotte already selected a center in the last draft - Kai Jones. They mostly don't play any of them, though. For some reason they prefer Mason Plumlee, because he has such high floor and ceiling...

The Knicks will be interesting to watch this year.    I know Hartenstein signed more than we could offer, but it wasn't that much more.  Could an excellent recruiter interest him in a starters spot on a contender?   Did we even try?  He played 40 minutes last night while Mitchell Robinson only played 13.   He may not be a rim runner Luka likes, but he may be able to play a lot in the playoffs.

I also thought Reddish looked great.  Really attacking the rim.   He has always been a tease so it will be interesting to see if he can do it consistently.   Maybe the Mavs had interest him, but he is the high boom or bust young guy who I wished we would try to sign a year early rather than 5 years later.   There is bust potential but you could also be rewarded for smart evaluation.

I agree. If they can have the type of season they had 2 years ago.  Brunson gives them something they have sorely needed. A creator.  Hartenstein may have been one of the better pickups in the off season. He can score, rebound and plays hard.  Reddish had been in Thib's doghouse, but he may be working his way out of it. He's got talent.
