D has slipped since last time I saw you post this.  Those games without Maxi really hurt.

Should have lowered regular season games to 70 or 72.

Boston looks unbeatable. They've scored 130+ pts in 3 straight games for the 1st time since 1968. Tatum and Brown just may be the best duo in the league. Tatum with 49 pts and Brown added 28 and Brogdon 21 in a 134-121 win over Miami.

They can bring guys of the bench that would start on any other team in the league. Brogdon is better than any player on the Mavs not named Luka and he is only 7th in minutes for them. And they are still missing R. Williams. But what really stands out is that every single starter is a legit contender for the all-defense team.
Will be interesting to see how they match up with a healthy Bucks team when Middleton returns. On paper that´s the ECF.

Just because the Mavs have gotten a lot of flack, and maybe rightfully so, here is Goran's last few games: 5 pts, 7 pts, 2 points, 0 points, 1 point.

Horford agreeing to a 2 year 20 million dollar deal with Boston.  He has been perfect for Boston.   He looked close to the end in Philly but since arriving in Boston he has look rejuvenated.  The Mavs need that exact type of player.

It is early, but it is an interesting comparison between our front office and theres the last year and a half.  Boston had their picks which gave them more flexibility, but still.

Got off Kemba Walker and a future first and got Horford who has been great for them.

Traded for Derrick White at the deadline giving up a '22 late first

Traded for Brogdan this offseason giving up a first in '23.

The lack of first the Mavs would have had trouble with any of those moves, but still some smart moves by Boston with no real mistakes.

Makes you wonder if we could have traded Brunson for our 23 at the TDL and possibly made one or both of the White/Brogdon trades.

Those moves are considerably above our GM's skillset, a former shoe rep who Mark admits is not up to speed with respect to "player evaluations."  I'm not certain what facet of Mavs operations that Nico "manages," perhaps ticket sales and promotions, parking or HVAC.

So what was all that noise about all the relationships he has established with players and how connected he is to the league?   Did Cubes really admit he's not up to speed? I hadn't heard that.

Brad Stevens seems to be a much better GM than a coach. He couldn't get Boston past the conference finals 3 times. Udoka does it on his first try.

I don´t think Udoka made big changes when it comes to the rotation or scheme. Maybe he is a really great relationships guy. But I would argue that steady improved of their young stars combined with smart roster moves aren´t really about the coach.

Not taking anything from the coaches after Brad, but Ainge as a GM is more concerned with winning deals, Brad is more concerned with winning games and X and O of the game.
Much better support his coaches got than he did tbh.
I always say that, Ainge would have never done that Horford trade that Stevens did.
Different strength for each one
