American players absolutely hate Gobert for some reason.

Obviously Gobert is going nowhere these days, no matter how bad the fit is. MINN just mortgaged their future for him. Down the road, if he ever is made available, it's fairly certain they will be asking for an arm and a leg, since that's what they paid to get him. I think we can discard him from our thinking.

They couldn't even get half of what they paid for him.  Utah is good without him/Mitchell.  Cleveland is good with Mitchell.  Minny is struggling.

Really small tidbit, but I find it interesting how other teams manage their Two way guys.   With this guy and John Butler the Blazers have two long shot stabs of long athletic guys now.   Dallas has two guys 24 years old.  I think both Wright and Dorsey deserve two way spots.  But what is Dallas's plans for them?  Do they have any?  Or were the two guys who will be here this year and gone next year?

Non two way G-league guys are the longest of long shots.   But I always feel when I look at different rosters the teams that typically are good at developing talent have a lot of players who I know and who are at least interesting.   Mavericks have never had these type of guys.

I would put up picks for LaVine. No question. There was a time when it was a debate, but this team needs athletic ability and offense. That dude would feast here playing off of Luka.

He has only had two seasons in nine of being positive in on/off +/- AND this is his contract....

$37,096,500.... $40,064,220.... $43,031,940.... $45,999,660.... $48,967,380

Terrifying.

Well, that’s why it’s even a conversation about him being available (not even sure he will be). I think we’ve seen enough to know he is not the guy you can build around, but I’m pretty confident he can play next to the guy you build around. I think he’d be bonkers here.

But at the end of the day, my pitch is this: whatever big swing trade they make in a year or two, I bet it is for a player nowhere close to as good as LaVine.

I could be talked into LaVine...but I would be reluctant.

The Mavs don't need someone with as much talent as LaVine....hell, Christian Freaking Wood is the most talented player Luka has EVER played with. The bar is really low.

such a bummer that basically everyone we could realistically trade for has worse impact numbers than Brunson
