Too much of their payroll consumed by LeBron ($51m), AD ($43).

Too many players underperforming their contracts: Dlo ($18), Hachimura($17), Vanderbilt($10), Vincent($11).

They could try an all-in move like Phoenix did with Bradley Beal, but their dearth of draft picks means they would certainly have to include Reaves and Hood-Schifino along with the necessary mid-level salaries.  Their only real expiring contract is Prince.

So maybe the only moves they can make will be around the edges, trying to fill specific needs (like shooting), rather than real upgrades.

Makes me kinda happy that they went all-in and lost.

Many mistakes.
1. Lakers have 3 FRP to trade. Basically same situation that Mavs had before deciding for PJ and Gafford trades
2. Prince is a FA, not an expiring salary to be used in a trade. Their expiring salary is Dlo (almost 19 mil). Combine that with 13 mil from Reaves and they can get very high.

Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant will earn $150M next season.

The salary of the three players is more than 14 teams total payroll in 2024-25.

But if you didn't think that was enough how about another?

Ends the game with 42/10/5 on 16/29 FG, 4/9 3-pt, 6/6 FT.

Worst part about it? Haliburton says I'm better than you:

Amazon Prime has framework deal for NBA broadcast rights, per sources, putting pressure on TNT, NBC.

In what will be a landmark move in sports media history, the NBA and Amazon Prime Video have the framework of a deal that will make the streaming service one of the main homes for the league’s games, executives with direct knowledge of the talks told The Athletic.

It is expected that Prime Video’s package will include significant regular-season and postseason games, perhaps even some conference finals. The anticipation is that the final contract will be for at least a decade and begin the 2025-2026 season.

I hope TNT doesn't go away. That's the best pregame show on the planet.

I don't care what anyone says, Minnesota is a problem. Can't wait until they meet Denver. But obviously, the champs are still the team to beat.

I sincerely hope this comes to pass and is in a format that allows me to watch quality games.  As it is...NBA League Pass and ESPN, to an extent, only let me watch less than 1/2 of the Mavs games--because I am in the viewing area of such and such and so and so team, etc.  I am out in the boondocks about 150 miles from Dallas, even further from the Spurs and Houston--and I can't watch any of them because I am "in the so called viewing area."  I don't mind spending money--I just want to watch the games.

To make a long story short--too late!--I am relegated to watching games on certain unsavory feeds, that will remain nameless on here.  I don't consider them unsavory.  There's no other way I can watch the Mavs play.  I already have Amazon Prime.  I have had NBA League Pass and ESPN.  And I have YouTube TV.  So...I'll spend money--for any legitimate way I can watch all the games.

I'm sure all the big networks are reading our forum--so I'll just pucker up and wait till they get'er done...

I'm one of those dunces who believed they had no chance from the beginning, even if healthy, because 1) Pacers swept the regular season series against them, and 2) Rick against Doc is like a steamroller versus a grape.

Orlando is blowing out Cleveland. All the Magic need is reliable 3 pt shooting from the guards or wings, and they're going to be a real problem. They're young and have size and length.
