This was my immediate thought.  The Mavs have been pretty clear that they want a big that can provide rim protection, and Wood isn't that, but he's definitely a better talent and trade asset that might help them get that player.  Of course, even if that doesn't happen, this is still a big rebounding and scoring upgrade in the front court.
