Only the '27 can be traded, due to the Stepian rule.

Can fall in love with that starting 5. The rest leaves a lot to be desired. Give me any 3 of the top “possibilities” for upgrades and we have a chance this year. My favorite being Washington/Rozier.

Not available as it is tied up in the pick we owe the Knicks.

We could theoretically trade our '25 pick if we unprotect our '23 pick owed to NYK.

Don't forget about the buyout market. Feels like Dragic/Wall could fill the Frank role.

Beasley/Vanderbilt for THJ/'27 pick (top 4 protected) would be my prime target.

Doncic/Wall (buyout)
Irving/Beasley
Green/Bullock
Kleber/Vanderbilt
Wood/Powell

Not to mention we create the max space if things go south with Ky (Beasley TO and Vandy is RFA).
We just paid a whole lot of money to a guy that went 9-29 (31%) on FG and 3-20 (15%) 3-pt% in both our win or go home elimination games last couple of playoffs. SMH

Beasley is really down this year.  I'm not a huge Vanderbilt fan.  Not sure I would do that deal over any of the ones I listed.

Can you put protections on '27 if you've already traded '29?  What would happen if the pick didn't convey in '27 or '28, does it roll to '30?

No.  Not in the sense that it rolls over to the next year.  Conceivably, it could have converted to seconds, but we don't own those any more.

I wrote about this earlier.  We can trade 2025 with provisional language.  We can trade 25 and 27 the same way, but the team receiving 27 has to agree that there is at least some chance they won't get 27 (with the provision being that 25 becomes 26 and 27 become nothing if 23 doesn't convey to NY).  If we are getting someone worth two first round picks to go along with Luka and Kyrie, the odds of that pick conveying are really really high.

I assumed that was the case, but wasn't sure.  Thanks for confirming.

Wiz: Russell

I'm in love with that starting lineup.  We're a backup guard away from having an incredible roster.

Interesting...

The Nets’ refused Dallas' attempts to ship them Christian Wood's expiring contract or one of its less palatable long-term deals held by Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dāvis Bertāns. Don’t be surprised, though, if Wood still gets dealt before Thursday’s 3 PM ET trade buzzer.

At this point it’s inevitable that THJ and Wood are traded. Possibly including the last tradable FRP (2027).

Any rumors or ideas on who the return might be?

As you probably know, Maxi can't be traded this season.

I think you are sleeping on another possibility.  The front court could be:

Center   Wood-Powell
Wood    Maxi
Green    THJ
Irving    Reggie
Luka      Irving-Luka

With Luka, Irving and Reggie eating up the remaining backcourt minutes.  Powell could also get squeezed here with Wood getting 24 minutes at PF and 12 or so at center.  It brings players like Turner, Poeltl, Gafford, Olynyk, Hartenstein, Reid and Achiuwa into the conversation.  Some of those are low dollar guys who could be had with a small outgoing salary and a pick(s).  Maybe it is McGee, or Frank (or even expiring Morris can bring back a $3.7mm player).  Remember too, the deal isn't final with the league yet, so there is still a bit of trade matching space (about $2.0mm) left that can still be used if the deal were expanded.

As a for-instance, McGee isn't typically a match for Poeltl by himself.  But if you redirect Morris to SA and send McGee also (obviously with draft capital), then Poeltl for McGee fits within the Irving deal.  Our outgoing is $38mm and the incoming for Irving and Poeltl is $46.3mm.  Yeah, but they'll just play Poeltl off the floor.  They are going to do that to Wood and Powell too.  At least by adding a defensive center (who consistently adds to winning), you've given yourself a better chance against the Jokic's and Embiid's of the league.  Not saying it will happen, but I think it is just as logical as the PJ's and Vanderbilt's of the world.

I want it to be for OG or Siakam. That's the all-in move that makes the most roster sense, at least.

Don't think we can scrape enough together by the TDL for either, sadly.
