One of these two players are probably moving: Gary Trent Jr., Fred VanVleet.

After a few years of developmental struggles, the Raptors need more contributors on lighter contracts. Trading Trent Jr. or VanVleet is the easiest way to acquire those pieces. I’ve already written about how complex the VanVleet situation is; for that reason, I have Trent as the more likely player to move, although it could be closer than some might think.

FVV would make a lot of sense here. Trent Jr. is very similar to THJ. Both are looking for massive paydays this offseason. FVV is the closest Brunson replacement the Mavs can find right now as well (and they'd ironically probably pay him more than Brunson this offseason).

Raptors make too much sense for the Mavs. They have a star wing player who'd fit perfectly, a sub-star wing who'd also fit perfectly, and several key role guys the Mavs have been looking for. 

I wonder if there is a 3 team trade available here. One where NYK can get involved to remove the protections on the 2023 pick, and allows the Mavs to throw the farm at Pascal. 

I played around in the trade machine for about 10 minutes and came up with something like:

Dallas gets: Siakam+FVV+Rose

Raptors gets: Powell+Quickly+Reddish+THJ+Bertans+Frank (And Mavs picks 25+27+29).

NYK gets: Gary Trent Jr. +Bullock+give up 2023 protections

Raptors get their 3 firsts for Siakam. They get their mix of young talent in Quickly and Reddish. They get an expiring in Powell and Frank. They also add some shooting wings to replace GTJr in THJ+Bertans. They also reduce their payroll by 17 mil. Mavs add on about 12 mil in payroll and will pay a tax hit of ~72 million. That alone makes this deal unlikely but puts them right in line with a team like the Bucks. \]

Knicks also find a way to turn Rose+Reddish+Quickly (all guys who've they've floated in trades since last year) into 2 wings that Thibs would love. 

It's a blockbuster deal and highly unrealistic. But I got my head in the clouds right now.

Siakam/Kleber
Wood/McGee

Pretty much makes this team an instant contender overnight.
