I like Powell for what he can bring but he is a finished product. Not to mention that many on this board wanted to replace him with McGee just a few month ago.
White has upside and that´s what the Mavs desperately need. A talent infusion. Giving up Powell is a small price. Even if the chances that White is more than just another 6th man type scorer are small.
I suppose this makes sense from an asset standpoint, but why does Chicago do that?
Given this teams desperate need for two way players, I don't find myself terribly excited by White, but you would probably have to pull the trigger if an expiring Powell is all it costs.
That trade likely makes this team worse this season though. It means more minutes for McGee unless they can backfill Powell.
