Okay, that's good. If the Sixers want Bullock, and to get rid of some massive bloated salary, sounds like they will claim a bigger write-off on their taxes once they do the deal.
Sixers get: Tim Hardaway, Davis Bertans, Reggie Bullock, 2nd round pick
Mavs get: Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey, Charles Bassey

There's no way Maxey gets traded. They wouldn't include him in the Harden trade. I just don't see it.

No problem. They don't have to, UNLESS they want Bullock.

The overreaction about a trade that hasn’t happened, and whatever iteration we think of will probably not happen is cracking me up.
I also like how there is no middle ground to defensive chops. They either suck, or are irreplaceably great.

I love Reggie, but I’d do that.
I like that better than my version. I was trying too hard to add Springer. Bassey makes more sense given that we already have developmental Green and Hardy already. So, with Bassey you have a center, a wing and a scoring guard that you hope will grow into something.
The thing I find interesting about this line of thinking is it turns KP, expiring Powell and our 2021 MLE into Dinwiddie, Harris, Thybulle, Bassey and a second. I use the 2021 MLE to try to take some emotion out of trading Bullock. Man, he was great in the playoffs. Not wanting to disrespect what he did, but if you consider this Thybulle for Bullock, Thybulle is just in another world defensively. He's already a 2x All-Defensive Team at 24. Now you are turning KP/Powell into Dinwiddie/Harris (and a bunch of nothing into Christian Wood).
If, as I presume, Thybulle would start, Nico will have added three players to the starting lineup around Luka and DFS in Wood, Harris and Thybulle. Two can score 20 on any given night (and average between 17 and 20 for their careers) and one is a DPOY candidate. Nico will have also added a Sixth Man candidate in Dinwiddie and a Powell replacement who is better defensively and a better rebounder in McGee (plus Bassey and Hardy) That would be a pretty significant roster churn in a year.

You should spend less time studying the CBA and more time evaluating the worth of players. Any chance you are Mark Cuban?
Bullock for Maxey. Hilarious.

I'd be willing to bet Philly and everyone else would value Maxey way more than Bullock.

So this was all a false alarm? Man, Mavs FA PTSD is real!
Let me add, I am not tied to Bullock. I think he is a fine player and would be surprised if he is moved this offseason. Although, I have doubts he is still here in 2-2.5 years.
My first thought of getting both Harris and Thybule was underwhelmed. I don't know a ton about Thybule besides how universally known he is for his defense. In all honesty, my opinion for him would be lower if Morey did involve him in this type of trade. I know it is weird, but that would tell me something.

Never know, it could happen.. He'd be the extra ball handler they need if his knees hold up.

That will be disappointing. If that is the case getting a friend of Luka would have been the much better route.
I still think the ending option is a guy better than Dragic but not as good as Jalen. And then maybe a rotation level wing. Not sure how they pull that together. But for me both boxes need to be checked for this offseason to be deemed salvageable.

His value has dropped so low, you could get him on a cheap deal. That's all I was suggesting. I'm sure they'll find a stopgap somewhere.

I wouldn´t lose my mind if the Mavs give up Bullock as long as I understand what they are trying to do. Not just the usual catch phrases (being opportunistic, high value on flexiblity). What I absolutely don´t want to see is "plan powder 2024" but I wouldn´t be suprised if that is the plan.
We talked about the 18 month (maybe two years) plan rumor. If that is the goal Thybull for Bullock makes sense. Fits the timeline.

Thybulle doubled up Frank/Josh Green in playoff net rating. But the minus value
Harris on -0.6
Harris off +7.5 (worst value of the Sixers roster)
Thybulle on -15.5
Thybulle off +5.6 (2nd worst value of the Sixers roster)

I hope Mavs are smart enough not to trade away Bullock and I think they are in this case

As far as Thybulle and offense is concerned. I like in the famous Ben Simmons passing up the dunk clip that he saw space created by Simmons (his man left him and took his eyes off him) and filled it by cutting to the basket. He knows he’s not gonna shoot the 3 on the kick out, so he knew how to make himself useful on offense. Turned out he was “needed” on that drive and he became useful!
I’d love to see more of that from guys on our team as opposed to the constant stay ready to shoot at the 3 point line. This is the type of stuff I was talking about with KL the other day. Spacing can be anywhere on the court and it can be created in many different ways. Get me guys like Thybulle that understands that (or are finally taught that) and our offense really humms with the vision and willingness to pass that Luka has.

The point of those saying this is, the Mavs can't afford to include Bullock unless something like Maxey is coming back.
