How good of a source is the guy that reported the Mavs interest in Kyrie?

Hopefully he's the most make believe, sitting in his room above his Grandmother's garage, no source having internet troll ever.

He's Mark Cuban's brother and is married to Nico's sister.

Nets are going through the same thing that happened to them in 2013 when Billy King traded for Pierce, KG, and Jet, and how did that work out? History repeats itself.

That's what I'm hoping too

If we are allowed to use Brunson’s outgoing in a S&T, we only need about $17mm in outgoing.  Otherwise, it takes $29mm to match.

Scary for sure.  But what if it worked…

The match is even easier than that, perhaps.

Make Brunson-to-NY into a 3-way with DET, then add THJ going to DET. Then tie Kyrie-to-DAL into that deal, with DET sending player X to BKN (some player making enough salary to allow DET to take THJ from DAL). Maybe Burks is that player. Alternately, instead of THJ-to-DET, maybe they use SD-to-BKN as you suggest, or THJ-to-BKN.

Personally I'd prefer to keep SD. But other teams have their own valuations and needs, so ya never know.

Obviously there would be more details, but the matching framework is fairly easy when piggybacking off of what looks to already be in the works (ie some variation of DAL-NY-DET that ties together the known transactions).

In light of the chaos of the past year, I suspect Kyrie wouldn't be that expensive.

A deal with Mavs as was proposed above could help with that Smile

Nets coming full circle from the end of the KG/Deron/Pierce era. Absolutely stunning.

In a perfect world do I want Kyrie?  Hell no.

But is a Kyrie on a one year deal on his best behavior to land a max deal with someone else next year better than losing JB for nothing?

I think yes.

Worst case -- he's a massive expiring deal that can be moved at the TDL.

Good stuff. They say we need to add a star next to Luka. Who would be cheaper than World B Flat on an expiring on a team he just imploded?

A deal so huge as Durant could take weeks

Keith Smith on Twitter: "Talking to folks around the NBA the belief is that everything is going to pause with the opening of free agency until Kevin Durant's next home is decided. Every team and player will sit mostly still until Durant is traded. Then the flood will happen." / Twitter

I feel like the worst case is Cuban seeing a chance for a "star" and it ends up involving a KI extension as part of the deal.

This was expected. So Utah traded O'neal for air (so far reported) and released Juancho.

Marc Stein on Twitter: "Denver's Nikola Jokic, Phoenix's Devin Booker, Minnesota's Karl-Anthony Towns and Memphis' Ja Morant are all expected to verbally seal mammoth contract extensions soon after 6 PM ET tonight ... for those tracking notable sidebars to the Kevin Durant Requests A Trade blockbuster." / Twitter

LeBron and Kawhi held the league hostage a few years back until they decided where they wanted to go. Total BS. Thanks Kyrie.

That helps the Mavs though not missing out when they have their Brunson chat.

In other news overseas.....

Rumored Mavericks Goran Dragic starred in his return to action for Slovenia. The 36-year-old guard went off for 19 points, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 21.9 minutes of action. Dragic shot eight of 16 from the field, and he looked fantastic in the victory.
