TDL Archived: The 2nd Rnd Pick Yankee Swap
I mean he is an amazing offensive player...it is just everything else though.

Desperate times calls for desperate measures. I guarantee Cuban goes for it too.

An issue in this pursuit is the Mavs would have to gut the bench, right? Dinwiddie + Bertans, maybe Green and a 1st rounder? All for an expiring, injury prone, malcontent player?

His talent is real though.....but he may be crazy.

What would a package consist of?   Dinwiddie and Hardaway?

He's a hall of fame talent and a hall of fame nut job. I would think Dinwiddie and THJ would do it. His value is at an all time low. We might even get him cheaper. Maybe even Dinwiddie and Bertans. Who knows.

If BRK just wants him out of there, seems like the easiest route is to LAL for Russ and a tip.  Clears the salary on the same timeline and they get an asset or two (if LAL have any to give)

Plan Powder continues? 2023 free agent class sucks but at least there's options. Idk, I think I would love the trade if they didn't already go after Christian Wood, who is an offense first player.

There is only 1 ball, and Kyrie wants his star to shine and him + Wood are in a contract year.

My first reaction is Green/Powell/Bertans. Saves Brooklyn money this year, even more next year, and gets rid of a huge headache that they don't even want. Then they let Bertans shoot all he wants with Joe Harris.

They are trying to move off of Harris so I doubt they'd do Bertans.

THJ/Bullock/Maxi works as does replacing Dinwiddie for THJ.

Apparently that was offered prior to Kyrie opting in and the Nets said no.

There is nothing you could say to motivate me to put Kyrie Irving next to my 23 year old, once-in-a-generation franchise player.

Like, that might be the dumbest possible thing they could do.

Not if you guaranteed me the next two championships would I do that. I'd feel like I'd pay too much afterwards when Luka walks away.

Welcome to me three days ago. Tongue

As always it depends what we are sending the other way. Dinwiddie + THJ would have been viable options, if Durant committed to the Nets.

If Durant seriously demands a trade, then the Nets will look for expiring contracts, young talent and/or picks. And I do not want to give up any first round picks for that crazy mofo.

That would be my take as well... at least initially.

The expiring contract thing has me marginally interested, but he's about the most unpredictable player in the NBA. It would be sheer luck if he didn't create unnecessary drama sometime during the year.

Prior to Kyrie opting in, KD hadn't requested a trade.  They live in a different world today than they did yesterday.

That Royce to Brooklyn trade is interesting. Apparently Utah is not getting anything back and BKN is paying a pick. Strange move for BKN with their superstars on the move. Is Utah rebuild also following?

He has single-handedly destroyed every single pro team he has been part of, so far. Literally, all of them. Cleveland (where he dismantled a championship team), Boston and now BRK (both should have been championship teams).

He's going to find an excuse to miss at least 50% of the games next year, regardless of which team he ends up with. He has been doing that for five years.

I'm begging you, Mavs. DO NOT DO THIS.

I think he'd be great for a year but after that...

And that's what makes it tricky as you'd certainly need to have some value in that deal back to the Nets and it's not like have that many in the first place which is what makes a one year rental undesirable.

Maybe Mark can invite Rodman and Kyrie over for a sleep over and they can work this out.

LeBron is kind of a jobber and he was a puppy.

Boston had high expectations but saying he destroyed them is too strong as that core just made the finals.

The Nets is pretty inexcusable but it's the only reason we'd have a shot at someone of his caliber.

Dude, it's going to be the same as it was with Porzingis. Because he's in the last year, he's got a fair amount of leverage, because BRK is going to charge for him in the trade like he's under contract. Whoever trades for him will do so knowing they're about to give him whatever long term deal he wants. If you don't want to do that, you don't cough up the assets this is going to cost.

I absolutely can't stand it. I feel like I'm going to throw up.
