Regarding Wood:

I think there's a version of the future in which everything "clicks" for him here - he learns to be a professional, finally, feels like he's part of something and settles in to be a cornerstone piece. Talent wise, he's got it, and in theory his play style could be a perfect fit. 

But that is far from a certainty. 

I think the safest (and possibly best) route might be to capitalize on his contract year and move him at the deadline, as he could potentially be the most alluring piece by then that Dallas has had to dangle at TDL in years. Then, let someone else take the risk of giving him 4-5 guaranteed years. Kind of like the Knicks did to us with Porzingis. 

At this point, I can see myself wanting to go either way, 50/50. I just want to throw that thinking out here now, because I think it might be the way this needs to play out.

I think the best course is to hope for the former but be prepared emotionally for the latter.

Personally, I'm trying to not overthink CW. Just anticipate how he could/should/will fit with Luka and see how everything stands after the first third of the season, say January 1st, 2023. Ideally, everything is working, the team is winning games and Wood becomes a core part of the rotation and everyone forgets about the Brunson mishegoss.
