Regarding Wood:
I think there's a version of the future in which everything "clicks" for him here - he learns to be a professional, finally, feels like he's part of something and settles in to be a cornerstone piece. Talent wise, he's got it, and in theory his play style could be a perfect fit.
But that is far from a certainty.
I think the safest (and possibly best) route might be to capitalize on his contract year and move him at the deadline, as he could potentially be the most alluring piece by then that Dallas has had to dangle at TDL in years. Then, let someone else take the risk of giving him 4-5 guaranteed years. Kind of like the Knicks did to us with Porzingis.
At this point, I can see myself wanting to go either way, 50/50. I just want to throw that thinking out here now, because I think it might be the way this needs to play out.
