Love all of the Charlotte ideas. They seem somewhat ripe for something. Nothing I’ve seen solves their center issue though. All of the mocks have them taking Mark Williams, but is that enough to satisfy their playoff goals? They are rumored to be talking to Indy about Turner, but Indy is talking all sorts of things right now. Yes, Powell can be a placeholder for a year, I guess. But Plumlee already does that. Maybe they don’t have to pay Harrell if they have Powell?
If we believed Stein’s reporting on LaVine, then getting Hayward makes some sense in terms of taking some of the scoring load off of Luka. I’m a P.J. Washington fan, but struggle to see them giving him up if they are able to move on from Gordon’s money. They have Jalen McDaniels as UFA next summer. I wonder if he’d be the outgoing instead. Are we still interested in THJ/Powell for Hayward/McDaniels? It seems more fair than Dallas getting Hayward and Washington.
Didn’t see this anywhere, but Dallas made a trade in the Locked On Ultimate Mock Draft. The recording was done before the Wood trade, so it was out of date. The deal was with Denver. THJ/26 for Barton/Jeff Green/21 and they took Dieng who had slipped to that spot. Barton and Green are older and UFA next summer. It saves the THJ money the final two years of his deal, but provides some useful players at two positions in the current season. I thought it was an interesting approach and possibly a model for some kind of THJ or Dinwiddie trade the next week or two.
