TDL Archived: The 2nd Rnd Pick Yankee Swap

I thought he looked GREAT here with the kind of spacing this team can provide with all of its front court shooting (they just got even more of that, too). And, that was coming off of a major injury without the benefit of a training camp to learn the system and get comfortable with teammates/different lineups.

I'm expecting a 6MOY-level season from him this year, and tbh I could easily see him starting if not for Brunson. I think Dinwiddie fits on this team like peas fit with carrots.

I hate peas, so we are already off to a bad start.  I like him as a player and think he is a really good fit.  But I think its a little dangerous judging a guy on the small sample that he has been here.  If Spencer is going to continue hitting the 3 at a 40% clip then he might be the best player of that group.  But given his 32% career average (he shot 31% in Washington and 31% his prior full season) it is unlikely sustainable.

Oh, I agree about the shooting! Too good since coming here to be true, imo.

But, what has me jazzed is the way he can get into the paint and draw fouls by using the five-out spacing here. He's way more aggressive and physical as a driver than I understood before watching him every night. I see no reason that won't continue, and I think there's even room for improvement as he gets more comfortable with the system and with his injury.

Color me intrigued. I'm a Josh Green fan but if that's the price to not give up anymore picks and swap two 6th man types for two legit starting caliber players. I'm in.

For some weird reason the google algorithms seems to think I need to watch Wizards news and it seems they want to add a 3rd star. I guess a combination of 10th pick, Kuzma, Hachimura, Avdija, Gafford, KCP, future picks (?) could get you places.

10th pick, Kuzma, Hachimura, Avdija, Gafford, KCP, future picks --- can certainly get you THJ, DP, and about $20M of salary reduction in 2022-23! Come on down!

I think we realized Grant would be way too pricy with all these suitors. He would be a perfect fit for so many teams. Glad we didn’t wait that out and took the deal for Wood

Yep.  I would probably be willing to send Wood and Green for Grant, but I doubt they do that, especially given the history.  I remember pundits trashing Detroit for letting Wood walk and then signing Grant to a bigger contract, but in retrospect Grant currently has more value at a higher salary.
