This was the only remark I had initially on a comment that our best asset is a 2022 pick. I actually think this asset is relatively weak. I only mentioned Beal as an example.
Mavs can and should aim high. The question is, if this is a sound strategy. Mavs have a vast history of aiming high and hitting nothing. Can the new management do it more successfully?

Not sure what is your point. Mavs have 110 mil worth of contracts not named Luka on the roster with hopefully renewed Brunson contract coming. No trade for a star or any player will take that away. We will have plenty of other players and contracts left.

There will also always be 29 teams competing for the service of that one or two disgruntled star that appear on the market. Which brings me again to the question, is it smarter to wait with all-in for that disgruntled star that will want to go to Dallas or is it more sound to upgrade with a couple of quality players instead (like Turner/Gobert example you made). I think Luka deserves the team to be maximally aggressive in building the contender. There was basically no upgrade in six transfer windows, two of them with max cap space.
