The Mavs tried to downplay his value, trade him, and then give him a lowball offer, even after proclaiming they’re confident of signing him because they can pay the most. All bluster. The Mavs don’t have what it takes to win high stakes free agency. Winning there requires straight out aggression and force. You come at your player big out of the gate. There’s no room for finesse. The Mavs are just a passive, take what the market gives them organization, more like scavengers than hunters.
I agree with this.
For all the talk that Cuban should thrive in an environment when he gets in front of players or negotiate against other teams, time and time again he shows that he is in over his head. You would think this is where he could really hit it out of the park. Just doesn't have "IT" though. I guess typically you look for the "mark" you can take advantage of in these conversations. Ours just happens to be named Mark.
