I get that the Mavs botched things with Jalen in some ways, but requesting a meeting with the Mavs and then cancelling it is a dick move imo.  Even if you've made the decision at least meet even if it's just to say "thanks, but I'm going to the Knicks."

He just the way he carried himself and conducted interviews.  It's pure gut on my part but I never felt like he wanted to be hear.  Granted, MBT didn't do much to make him want to be here along the way but still...

Did he inform the Mavs of this decision before or after the plane departed? If it was after, that’s kinda approaching DAJ territory. Yet another egg on face start to the offseason. Here’s to it ending well!

Just make sure to hit them with tampering because this is still about a half hour early

I've never been a huge JB fan but it's only fair

Wish they would use the Pinson spot for a player of some sort. Otherwise, we all should be hopeful we get a call to take up the final roster spot while MC is here!

But we're used to it.

Don’t forget not having the team option for the last year which let him be a ufa

I was not a JB fan but he grew on me. Regardless if they were not ready to sign him at any cost then they should have traded him. Poor asset management regardless of how you fell about JB

There are no winners here besides JB's bank account.  We are probably the biggest losers though.

Luka is working with a built-in handicap. It's really bad for him but just like Dirk he might be able to find a way to fight through the incompetence of the organization just by sheer talent and work ethic.  It will be tough though.

Just in a few weeks he gets the chance to win another Eurobasket. He already won the title with Slovenia, won everything with Real. But he's never been in an environment as unprofessional as the Mavericks. Dude will have to work his butt off here for a NBA chip.

The guy can make it to the Western Conference Finals only to see his management let the second best player walk. Must be BRUTAL.

Nah we're fine. JB was criminally overrated around here. Played like shit next to Luka after he returned from injury. Super inefficient and atrocious on defense. Luka not being suspended for his 16th tech cost us this trade piece. He got to go off like Reggie Jackson did without Kawhi against a trash Utah team with a long history of playoff failure.

Mavs bungled this from the day the signed him to his rookie deal.  They should be called to the carpet for how poorly they played this out and what garbage asset management this has been from day 1.

All that said, Jalen doesn’t get to come out of this smelling like a rose (no pun intended).  The charade of setting meetings and flat out making one of them up is sorry.  And it doesn’t matter if it was just JB’s camp doing it, he is a grown ass man and can speak for himself.

JB wants to run his own show and I don’t begrudge him that.  But be careful what you wish for.  That RJ Barrett gravity hits a bit different than the Luka gravity.

Bottom line: No one comes out of this free from criticism.

Nothing Dallas could have done...I bet deep down Brunson didn't want to be here at all once he knew NY was interested in him. His mind was made up a LONG time ago IMO

Not even going to try to dig up my comment about how if something can go wrong for the Mavs in free agency it will
