Another game against an opponent, that should be bad on paper, but can be quite dangerous. SA has many long wings that can bother Luka, seems like all teams do nowadays. Fortunately they don't have DeRozan anymore, who was always killing us with his mid range PnR.

Looking for some improvement on offense, but SA has some guys who can defend.

After decades of good fortune, the Spurs may finally be wandering the NBA wasteland. We have to do our part of keep them there as long as possible. Must win game.

Yeah, they are in a weird spot.  Several young, interesting players.  But probably not one who can elevate a franchise.  And they may not be bad enough to get great lottery odds.   I guess that is one of the reasons they may look to gamble on a player like Ben Simmons.

It appears Devin Vassel is making a little jump this year off the bench.   I agree with Derozan not being their is a welcome sight.  He always seemed to kill the Mavs and typically once a game got in a zone where he gets 12-14 points in a hurry.

Wouldn't mind rolling with an ultra deep lineup again to help figure out lineups, especially with KP maybe out. It actually might be an effective strategy for avoiding taking those dumb early losses against inferior teams early in the year because it can help keep the other team off kilter

Bullock has no confidence issues when it comes to shooting, such a refreshing change after the Josh Richardson and Delon Wright experiments. Like his D too, wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of him here

Man I'd love to see Dejounte Murray in a Mavs uniform.
14x All-Star, 12x all-NBA, 1x MVP, 1x Finals MVP, 1 NBA Championship: Dirk Nowitzki, the man, the myth, the legend.

100% agree. He would be incredible next to Luka IMO.

Burke and Brown out mean there is LOTS of opportunity for other guards and wings. Excited for that.

Namely Josh Green. He should see plenty of minutes.

Don't know for sure (bc Kidd) but my guess is that since Ntilikina would be the next man up. Green barely played in a game for the which the plan was to play all 15 guys. Should be interesting to see how it goes though.

Also no KP and Boban means more and more Moses. Not so sure I like WCS/DP getting more play time but it is what it is.
We just paid a whole lot of money to a guy that went 9-29 (31%) on FG and 3-20 (15%) 3-pt% in both our win or go home elimination games last couple of playoffs. SMH

I would be fine with Moses starting along with Bullock.  Can we add Omoruyi?  Would be fun to see him play.

Frank came to mind as a starter for me also (though I could also see taking this is opportunity to get Green some burn).  Frank and Finney take the toughest covers from among the starters.

I'm a little worried about Powell getting overpowered by Poeltl.  I might try Willie or Moses as the solo-big rather than solo-big Powell to start the game.  Then Powell does his PnR thing against the backups.

Just realized this is the first game of a 5 games in 7 days sequence. Theoretically good it's coming early in the season when the team as a whole isn't worn down (aside, obviously, from KP), but Mavs really need to take care of business against the weaker teams in that sequence which includes San Antonio tonight.

Should have a *much* better idea of this team's floor this time next week.

Yes, this hasn't gotten much attention, but maybe should have.
