My conclusion is that JC really wanted to be in ATL. I think his comments at the end of the year were genuine and he is a good kid who didn't want to leave.

I am quite sure Atlanta would match if that happened. I guess no one thought Atlanta will let him go and find it useless to have their cap space locked for nothing.

yep, I mentioned previously that ATL played this perfectly.  Sure, in a perfect world Collins would have liked to stay there.  But ATL did not need to go all the way to Collins $ demands if no other team was going to force ATL hand.  If their young players continue to develop, it wouldn't shock me to see them move Collins eventually.  Although his contract is not terrible and they may be able to get some kind of asset back for him if they decide to move him over the next few years.
