2021-2022 AROUND the NBA: GSW Champs [ARCHIVED]
Scottie Barnes of Toronto is impressive. He fills up the stat sheet. I originally thought they blew it taking Barnes over Suggs. Looks like they got it right. Dude might be ROTY.

Yeah, I really liked Suggs.   Looking at Toronto though, I guess we should have not been surprised they drafted Barnes with his upside and measurables.  I think most are surprised how well he is playing on offense so early though.

He would be ideal as a 4 with Luka imo.    A wing with his length who can create and can also defend multiple positions is the true unicorn in todays game.

Ugh....Tyrese Maxey with his second consecutive 30 point game.  It is still early, but I think he may wind up being the biggest regret passing on at 18 over Bey.

For all the talk of our Free agency misses, drafting Maxey and somehow getting Bane later would probably make this team a contender as is.

I guess I shouldn't cry over spilled milk, but that hurts.   This front office cannot make any more mistakes moving forward.

Feels like many of those names are about who they are guarding rather than how they are doing so

Are rule changes and more physical play also leading to more fights?

Vucevic with Covid. Given that we just played them, something to look out for.

Unfortunately, they can, and probably will.

I am still ok with Green. You draft raw guys and then don’t play them because they are raw.  Or are hypercritical of every small blemish they have. It is not like our veterans are well rounded in all aspects.  Are we sure Maxey would not have been riding the bench here?

The alternate Mavs universe has so many off ramps to a drastically better roster...it is sickening.

It´s not that Green is not the best, it´s that he´s the worst picked in the 1st round, maybe Jalen Smith has an argument with him. That´s why I said the Mavs should offer their services as reverse draft consultants. Nobody can be that bad by sheer luck to pick the three worst players out of 36. That takes some evaulation skill. A monkey throwing three darts at the 36 names could come up with a more positive result.

PPG last year for all 94 rookies:

#68 Green 2.6
#86 Terry 1.0
#88 Bey 1.0

Last year we were arguing to sign Beal and Lavine in free agency to rescue them from their shitty teams. Now these teams are better than us, in one off-season. And we didn´t do anything. Not get better, not get better assets, not get more flexibility. We literally screwed up any foward flexibility to (re-) sign more mediocre veterans without any upside.

Meanwhile in Portland, things are going... poorly. Both on and off the court. IMO, the odds of them blowing the whole thing up are rising.

I don't think Maxey / Bane / Bey / Achiuwa / Mcdaniels ... etcetc They would have been sitting here ... Rick plays the guys who can play in my opinion .. Duarte could be an example, or Jalen himself and was selected in 2 rounds ... I am not a draft connoisseur, and had only seen a few videos and even so I had like 7/8 guys projected in our range ahead of Green ... I fancied that we would move up Vassell

Failure after failure.

Somewhere on this road is the moment when Luka gets to reverse Shark Tank Cuban:

"You are incompetent and have wasted years of my career after doing the same thing to Dirk...and for that reason....I'm out"
