Man, something must be wrong mentally.  The talent is there.

So by 2025, a 35% supermax contract will be worth just shy of $60 million? That's almost $730k per game. $24k+ per minute if averaging 30 minutes per game.

$15/hr minimum wage only get you to $31,200 if you work 52 forty hour weeks. No OT and no vacation.

It is tough to know what is real on instagram, but it certainly felt like JJ was enjoying his offseason with family.    He supposedly had a pretty rigid schedule working out each day, but I never saw any clips of him working out....not saying he wasn't doing this though.   I thought he would tag along with a contender, but maybe that option was available with Brooklyn (they have a pretty deep roster already).   So JJ had to weigh playing for a non-contender (knicks) near his home or being with a contender away from his home where minutes were not guaranteed.    There probably wasn't any big offers either.

The road may not be over for him but he has an uphill battle.  I liked his college highlights but I don't think he was as good as an athlete as he was hyped up to be.   His lateral movement seemed very stiff.    At his size, he really needs to be a perimeter player.  A guy who can defend wings and also help a team out with hustle plays.  His lateral movement was really glaring to me when we saw brief moments of him play.

It sucks Xavier Tillman went the pick before him.  After him, there are a few guys who I think will eventually find a role and have solid NBA careers, but I don't know if any of them will make us rue passing on them.   We will see.

No, he had interest, and he explains it here.  I love how he described last season...  "A 7 month exercise in coming face to face with my own athletic mortality."

Poor guy...that's probably the end of his GM hopes.

I can't speak about his time in Dallas but his stint in Minny was far from impressive imho.

This feels like a ringing endorsement to make sweeping changes when you get into the GM seat, to me. I wonder if Gersan would still have the job if he had traded more, or fully blown it up. At least that gives the owner some reason to keep you until they can see in 5-8 years if it is working.

Now they need to hire Donnie Nelson to complete the circle.

I love how Marc Stein is coming for ESPN. Let em have it Marc! They've claimed to break every story for more than a decade it seems.

He has probably the highest current opinion of the Mavericks of all the big national guys right now. That has given me a little bit of hope.

Can't say he didn't try. That Wiggins trade was just too rich.

To be fair I'm shocked they let him go this early.

Moves he did:
-Traded Cameron Johnson (11th pick) to PHX for Dario Saric and Jarrett Culver
-Was apart of that super complicated 4 team trade where he gave away Robert Covington and got back a 1st, Malik Beasley, Juancho Hernangomez, Evan Turner, and Jared Vanderbilt (Solid B+ trade)
-Traded Wiggins, a top 3 protected 1st (that later becomes unprotected), and a 2nd to GSW for D'Angelo Russell, Omari Spellman and Jacob Evans. (Definitely an overpay C+)
-Drafted Anthony Edwards
-Another complicated draft day trade where he traded away Poku, James Johnson, and 2 seconds to get Ricky Rubio and a first (that become Leandro Bolmaro). Solid trade so far
- Signed Malik Beasley to a big contract
- Traded Jarrett Culver, and Juancho Hernangomez, for Patrick Beverley.

Honestly besides that D'Lo trade, all of his moves were quite solid to good. Appears he was let go for non-basketball related reasons.
