2021-2022 AROUND the NBA: GSW Champs [ARCHIVED]

Or who does Ball fit in there?
Could be another team, or multiple teams. Could just be an expansion of the original complaint as it's basically the same thing.

I definitely don't believe the NBA just decided to look at this on their own... they absolutely prefer to look the other way, given their blatant hypocrisy and fundamental lack of enforcement of all tampering rules.

It´s funny, but I think the main problem the NBA has with all of this, is that it´s a total buzzkill. They build up expectations, rumours and within 24-48 hours it´s all done. It doesn´t play out in public anymore. Gosh remember all the f´n VAJ drama. In the past the NBA dictated the news for at least a week or two, now it´s barely two days.

The whole process needs to be reviewed from all sorts of angles. Maybe you do it like soccer. Six months before a pending free agency a player is free to negotiate new deals with other teams without the consent of his current team and already allowed to sign a deal.

Everything longer than six months out, the chasing team has to ask the current team for permission to approach the player, which can be accepted or denied. That way the releasing team is also officially aware of the specific interest and can now decide whether they want to trade the player immediately or still run down the contract. That´s a pretty simple rule. YES or NO, there is no grey zone, where the agent´s dentist talks to the florist of the player´s mother.

Good point about the buzzkill.
But Kawhi is still out there and should cause drama and the contract extensions didn't help either.

About soccer. The six month before thing always causes to much of bad drama. Players harrased by their own fans, or being reached out on just before important games.
Just think about rumors about CP3 leaving just in the middle of the finals and him playing bad then.

Pelicans: Sure you can take a 1st round pick. Which one do you want? One of ours, we also have five from the Lakers and five from the Bucks.
NBA: You already punished enough by agreeing to the trade.

Unless they enforce it in the playoffs, it is just lip service.  It's like them calling "traveling" on NBA players.  Sure they call it maybe once every now and then but it is not enforced.

Hey...we might never reach a consensus of good vibes around here about the Mavericks.

But I'm sure we can all agree that at least they aren't the Rangers.

The only Rangers I care about are Walker and Trivette. Big Grin

Good luck to the Refs with this. Instead of ruling off the flopping, they take away the skillgame.

Why call anything here? Everything is a no-call and things will settle with time.

How many other teams and players would that affect in terms of subsequent deals? And what would the market for Ball and Lowry look like now that all of the FA money is already spoken for?

I sorta love it.

Both players would sign with the Lakers for the minimum

Have teams stopped signing players, or has the Clutchbot just stopped posting tweets?

Who's left out there with hat in hand, looking for a job?

This is how one analyst sees quality of players in the league. The only Mav in the 80-125 range is THJ (barely made it) and we can be reasonably sure only KP and Luka are in the 1-80 range yet to come. No Maxi, DFS, Bullock,...

Pretty interesting to see him so low on guys like Maxi and DFS while simultaneously putting Kelly Olynyk and Bruce Brown in that same range.

There is a certain degree of arbitrariness to assessments like this, which the author acknowledges.

I think articles like this are most useful looked at from a more big picture point of view, as opposed to what particular details might be arguable.

I think here, the larger point is that championship teams tend to have a certain amount of high-level talent among several of their top players, and the Mavs really don't. I don't think that's too surprising a conclusion. Hopefully, they can work on that from several different angles.
