Hey, wouldn't surprise me, either, but we won't know until it happens. If he's here - can't switch, really. If he's gone and replaced with a more modern big, that becomes more of a possibility.

Exactly. But even more important. If the Mavs add a 6´0 guard like Lowry (let´s be honest...in shoes on a good day) it becomes even more difficult to switch on defense. One guy that cannot guard down. One guy that cannot guard up. Can surround them with three versatile wings and it wouldn´t matter. A good offense exploits and forces mismatches. The way most teams play these days (especially in the playoffs) it is all about mismatch hunting.
With Lowry and KP the Mavs would have two guys on the floor that are easy targets. One if gets switched onto a bigger wing or big. The other if he has to move his feet on the perimeter or in the pick and roll. That´s already to much. Prior to this years playoffs I thought that teams could get away with one liability as long as it isn´t the center. Now I am not sure if that´s still the case. Might need five guys that can at least do an okay job in most matchups.

Then again. Who knows what Kidd is planning. Maybe we will see a completly new defensive scheme or play full time zone. Maybe KP moves better than ever after a healthy offseason. Maybe KP isn´t even on the roster.
