I thought Hardaway was excellent last year, but if he was resigned my grade to the offsesaon would be heavily based on his # and what the other move was. My thought process is if Hardaway was resigned (and it is going to take over 15 million and probably closer to 20) than you are really limited with your other move. In an offseason where you have a lot of aggressive teams, I think the Mavs would be left chasing a guy a little over the MLE. Frankly, that would not be a good enough offseason for me.
Maybe they have a sneaky move up their sleeve, but I have been burned too much. Eventhough we have a new front office. Maybe they find a way to free up money for Holmes, but that would still leave us short of another ball creator and my offseason grade would not be strong.
Losing Hardaway will hurt imo, but my main focus is improving the starting lineup this offseason. If we re-sign Hardaway, I believe this is going to be very tricky to find additional plus starting talent.
