For me, it’s probably easiest to start with who the Mavs are likely to move to figure out who they would get.  That’s how one could figure out the KP trade beforehand. There actually weren’t that many legal reasonable player combinations coming back that fit. Based on a combination of trade value and redundancy, I’d say the following guys are most likely to be moved:

1) Widdie.  Classic sell high. Redundant roster piece. The Mavs did a good job of rehabbing his value. I’d move him since THJ is more likely to recover his form than have any real trade value right now and the Mavs can probably get Dragic for point guard depth.
2) Powell/Maxi.  If the Mavs bring in a more defensive big to pair with Wood (preferably a guy who can also stretch the floor), then they could and should move on from one or both. Powell now has an expiring contract and Maxi actually also would be a sell high. I believe in his late regular season finish more than his playoff performance as the harbinger of what’s to come. He’s a player in decline.
3) Green. Perfect filler who’s young and shown enough flashes to sell to a team’s fan base, but let’s face it, he’s not good and never will be. Frankie is the better prospect as a fourth wing.

Who do some combination of those guys bring back?  That’s the question.  There’s fewer reasonable, non pipe dream options than you’d think plugging numbers into a trade machine. A return engagement by Barnes? Turner? JRandle (no thanks).  I’m sure the Mavs do this 24/7 and have some more creative options, but Nico has his work cut out.  I’d ship all four of those guys out while you can.  I think the players coming back would be better.
