Given the excitement after the last two wins in DAL, is there a success level (short of the championship) where you try to keep the team together rather than sell of parts looking for upgrades?

I'm thinking of how ATL had the unexpected run to the ECF and basically brought everyone back, only to make it in as an 8th seed and lose badly in the first round. Worried that recent success might make it emotionally difficult to try and upgrade. I think that's an issue with Cuban getting personally close to the players, he needs the emotional buffer to make the right personnel decisions.

There are certainly examples like ATL where management overvalues the existing roster because they overachieved.

There are also examples like the 2012 Mavericks where management, perhaps, undervalues the roster, and isn't willing to pay to keep them.

It's a guessing game.  Sometimes you're right, and sometimes you're wrong.  ATL, apparently, was wrong.
