As a thought exercise, if I could pretend there weren’t 31 other teams and money wasn’t an obstacle, I’d probably pick Turner over the other three as he defends and hits 3’s where Capela, Collins and Holmes only do one of those. Since I’m in fantasy land, I’d trade THJ for him with #26. That firms the C/PF rotation with Turner/Powell/DFS and Maxi. Bullock and Josh (top 25% in D-EPM and as a PNR defender and he’s still a baby) would be fine with me at the three and I’m good with the three guards taking the 1–2 minutes.
I think people spend way too much time working about expiring Brown, Burke and Boban. The killer is coming up with a way to move THJ and Bertans and add talent at the same time. MAYBE you can construct something with some draft capital to move one of them. Both? I doubt it. So, if you can’t move both, do you bring in someone who marginalizes the future value of the player you are stuck with (making it even more difficult to move these guys)? I see the need/desire to add talent. I’m just not sure it happens this summer.
If your argument is what it will be vs what we should be striving for, then you might be right. I just don't see how you can look at this roster when healthy and don't see a logjam in the backcourt and a gaping hole in the frontcourt.
If we are making roster decisions because we want to make sure Bertans gets his minutes I will lose my shit. The reality is that if we get a center, Maxi can slide some to 4 and DFS can slide some to 3. Plus some of these guys don't have the best injury history anyways.
Its hard to see any avenue to dumping Bertans salary anytime soon (I could be convinced to send Bertans and our pick for Holmes). I like THJ, but there are not a lot of room for minutes, especially if Green takes the next step. Anything that sends him out and brings a playable big would make a ton of sense.

How much better is this team with Timmy? Hard to say given how poor he was earlier this season, but it doesn't hurt to add more scoring. The guys also all love him.
The ideal upgrade to me is getting the starting C/PF and let Powell go to the bench. Maxi is basically our starting center right now anyways. The closest thing to Maxi that could might be available is John Collins who the Mavs have been angling for a while.
I would argue that Turner is a closer match to Maxi than Collins, but I would be very happy with either.
