We are nuts if we aren't trying to add another big.

Well they just cut a center to make roster room for the trade. So they may have different rotation ideas.

Chriss sucks and is now hurt.

Apparently, they do.

I’m a little uneasy about it, mostly because I never want to see Boban play for the Mavericks again, but they did just get really modern overnight. It doesn’t seem like they’re worried about it at all. Seems like the goal was for the entire rotation to be switchable.

FWIW, taking Zubac off the floor and guarding Luka without a center is exactly how the Clippers just made tonight’s game a contest after the big Mavs first quarter.

So if we cut Burke, would he sign with another team?  Probably not many teams would add him.  Nico must think Burke and Frank are better than Dragic, I don't agree.

In fact Nico and Jason were not truthful in dismissing KP's injury status as a factor.  Oh well, Cowboys lie to my face all the time...

Holmes or Turner should be major targets in the offseason.

Yep. I really think the Mavs are aiming for all players being between 6'4" and 6'10". JB is the exception on the small end (Burke doesn't count) and Boban is the only exception on the big end. I 100% support this.

That's fine and all but they need a spare tire for the rest of the season.

I think it's more a matter of not having a role big enough for Dragic anymore. The assumption being that he'll want to play somewhere, and that Burke and Ntilikina already understand the deal here, that they're not going to play. In Ntilikina's case, there's a potential upside to keeping him around, even if he doesn't play another minute this season.

Quite true.

I have to think that Powell and Maxi could split the 48 center minutes easily, without it being a big overload to either. (Just like tonight, in fact.)

Plus, if you figure on a 15-man roster, you probably allocate 3 players per position. Yet they have 4 centers already, so it looks like they are actually OVER-stocked at C right now, and short somewhere else. Not that they see a need to change it, of course.

I have low expectations for the new guys. But I hafta mention two things that surprised me in a positive way.

1. Dinwidde is huge! Listed at 6-6, 215 lbs. That’s Terrance Mann sized. At point guard.

2. A Spurs fan tells me Pop has always been a big fan of Bertans. Pop knows his shit. That’s not nothing.

He's basically Matt Bonner, so that tracks.

Bertans is going to be a revelation when he is used properly.

You get to work on the time machine and I'll work on kidnapping Pop.

Time machine? In the 6 games he has been played 21 or more minutes this year he has averaged 14.0 pts per game while shooting 44% from three. That's THIS year. He just hasn't gotten consistent burn or opportunity.

Now do the other 28 games.

The other 28 games he sucked which is why he played minimal minutes. That’s like saying look at Trey Burke. When he plays a lot of minutes, he plays well. He’s only playing those minutes because he’s playing well.

I feel like there's a lot of questions between those 2 guys, but I'm most confident in Bertans getting his shot back if he can find a consistent role here
Other worries to focus on
