Yeah I kind of think we somewhat underestimate the potential of the Brunson performances.
I have just looked up the games he has started this year. In his 15 starts, but his stats are eye-popping. I don´t see much of a difference to a Brogdon or Fox.
19.7 PPG
7.1 APG
3.9 RPG
55.8% FG
36.2% 3pt FG
77.4%
To ball-park it. I think a trade package around Brunson (without any additional picks) could land Myles Turner outright. I think Cleveland would trade Sexton for Brunson straight up and might throw in something extra.
I have no doubt he´ll get into the $15-17M per year range. He´s just 25. He´s lightly raced, too. He´s a proven winner.
We cannot lose this asset for nothing. That´s for sure. He either needs to yield a serious trade return or he needs to be extended.
I think if Bradley Beal or Damian Lillard really pushed for a Mavs deal, that their teams would consider Brunson as the young core piece + THJ to match salaries, + DFS/Kleber (as additional 3rd team pick generators) + additional own picks.
