Any way Mavs can seduce Orlando with KP?
Magic has Franz Wagner and Isaac.
About Franz: His rookie season so far is looking satisfactory. Some say better than expected. I wouldn't trade KP for Wagner if it's just a talent issue. KP is better until proven otherwise. But with KP, we know that health is a lingering issue. Question (at least for me) is, does Orlando think Franz is going to develop into a Hayward some day? Orlando can certainly wait and see.
What Mavs get: 6'9" playmaker, can score in his own, secondary ball handler who isn't a PG, can play-off ball, shoots the 3 ball, not totally inept in defense, can grow with Luka, will be the the 2nd best player on the Mavs even if he is a rookie. Gary Harris clears a portion of KP's salary.
Trade: KP for Franz and Moritz and the expiring Gary Harris (or expand the the trade and get Brunson in there somehow and add other players from the Magic as well)
About Isaac: Before the ACL injury we know he is being groomed as the main man for the Magic of years to come, or at least someone who can anchor their defense. But there is a risk with Isaac of course. It will be a long time until he regains his form back, and that means a lot of losses are in store for the Mavs. The other risk? he isn't exactly on the level of KP offensively or the level of Gobert defensively pre-injury, so even if he gets thru his injury and becomes healthy again, what are the chances he takes it to the next level?
What the Mavs get: At least a likely DPOY someday if he regains his health, ping-pong balls (since Mavs will be losing this year). Worst case scenario: Isaac is more of an injury risk than KP and never gets it together, only saving grace is wiping 20M form the KP salary. Best case: Isaac recovers quickly and then Luka and Isaac form a perfect combo of offense and Gianis-like defense in years to come.
Trade: KP for Isaac and Gary Harris (you'll never get Isaac if he is healthy, this is the chance to do it).
