I am assuming KP returns and plays consistently (I know a stretch at this point) and plays well enough at the PF spot. I am unsure if that is his position long term but hopefully we get a good look at him there.
So does these two moves move the needle short term at all:
1) Derrick Favors to start at Center. Powell goes back to your 4th big. WCS is either moved, released or put in a deep bench role to play in certain matchups. Is there a move using the TPE and giving up a future second round pick?
2) Goran Dragic as a buy out candidate replacing Burke. Jalen is moved into the starting lineup and Hardaway goes back into the 6th man role.
In time, the Mavs will have a move to do their Jrue Holiday type move. I don't think they can do that move now. And when they go all in, they need their roster to be further along. Right now, they need to improve around the edges by finding undervalued talent, improving from within, and continued development of young talent, and not downplaying the draft. The Heat are a good team to copy. They develop talent within their organization and find spare parts who really fit into their style of play.
