Perhaps him bouncing around the league is a wake up call enough? There's no doubt the guy is talented and still incredibly athletic. He never really got an opportunity in NYK after thibs was hired, and he had some personal tragedy's that cost him time on the court himself. 

He seemed to have improved his 3pt shot in Detroit which shows a willingness to work on his weaknesses. 

I understand the hesitation though, but we are talking about the backup's backup here. I don't think DSJ, should he sign here, would get more than 10mpg. I do think that DSJ would do more in 10mpg than Terry which I guess is what I'm trying to argue.

Plus I just want to move off of Burke's salary.

How are you moving off of Burke's salary though?  The way DSJ ended his time in Dallas just doesn't sit right with me.  I'd also think Detroit would hand onto him on the cheap if there wasn't something there.
