I think its both clearing up the logjam at center, and more importantly getting an actual point guard. I think the intent was (and maybe still is) to handle this with a Dragic trade. If that trade does not play out, or next best option is probably DSJ.
LM may be a better talent than Maxi, but he is a much worse fit, and if we are sending Maxi out so we can pay LM 15, I am totally out.
WCS is mostly useless on offense, but he can defend his position.
