It just cracks me up that we got rid of Seth Curry who was better than Maxi in that Clippers series, but we're now hesitant to give up a guy who sucked ass two playoffs in a row?
And I'm glad I brought up Seth Curry because getting Markannen would be like US getting Curry. Shooting>every other NBA trait.
Kleber´s 3-point percentage in the last two seasons has been better than Markkanen´s. Doesn´t mean that he is the better shooter because his slow release limits his volume but going along with your take of shooting > everything else Maxi is the one of the 5000 centers the Mavs should keep.
Add the fact that Maxi is the only big that can defend the perimeter and play next to anther big without hurting the team (see +/- numbers that were provided earlier) and it is easy to understand why people don´t want to trade him.
The one thing that limits Maxi´s impact is his durabilty. It really feels like he cannot handle a 82g/30m starting role and is best suited for the first big of the bench role. Last season he had back problems. This season he was in and out out the rotation with achilles issues. Was more or less unplayable in the playoffs because he couldn´t move.
