That's really odd Kokoskov is jumping ship to Brooklyn. Thought he had a good year here in Dallas and the Luka connection was an obvious plus.

Don't see how he gets any more freedom under Nash, unless he expects Nash to get canned and he hopes to take over....

In any case, James Borrego... He wasn't too bad a coach in Charlotte. His teams constantly underperformed, though it's not like he was overflowing with talent during his time there.

That is a really surprising development. Remember Dallas made great effort to bring him in after he just recently signed with Fenerbahce and had a long term contract there. I am very interested what are the reasons for this move.

I have to think it's for a bigger role + greater chance at being head coach if the current one gets fired. Kidd is likely much safer at this point than Nash so Kokoskov might be next in line if anything happens there. In the meantime, he might have been given a bigger role there. Notice how when Kidd was out with covid, it was Sweeney that filled in, not Kokoskov. Maybe Igor will be the lead assistant there. This is all speculation on my part obviously, but that's my guess.

All that is possible, we don't really have any info. What I am concerned is Dallas obviously made great effort to bring him in especially because of the Luka connection. Now he leaves after one successful season. I am concerned how much money is the factor, but I guess we will know in a month or so, how much is Cuban really willing to spend.

We see Minnesota money whipping respected execs. We see most amibitious teams hiring respected coaches as assistants.

Probably 100% spot on. He had seniority by far , but Kidd trusted Sweeney more.

Kokoskov often looked bored, disinterested, and even unhappy on the Mavs bench FWIW.

Agreed. It´s like @"sterlingmallory" said. Before the season most would have guessed there was a decent chance Kidd sucks and Kokoshkov was the logical successor at head coach. Then it turns out Kidd does not suck. Furthermore Sweeney orchestrated the much improved defense and replaced Kidd during Covid (?). So now he´s suddenly #3 in line to a settled head coach and a young wiz kid.

Not sure how current this is. I know Cuban has tried to help him in the past. Sad, if recent.

Funny it’s Embiid and Maxey, not Harden.

Additional position almost certainly. Most members of "boards" tend to also have other full time jobs.

The Mavs finished 14 on offense, which isn’t great when you are supposed to have the league’s best offensive player.  A shakeup on that side of the coaching staff is probably warranted. Mavs should be a top 5 offense.
