One thing that I believe might be part of the thinking, but that will drive people around here crazy, is that Luka is very clearly not an on-ball solution against PG's defensively.
During each of the last two off-seasons they've targeted PG or hybrid guards, and I think starting a smaller, quicker player with a career's worth of experience defending the point of attack might factor into that thinking.
