The talking points here have turned it into the "Moses Brown" trade, and are trying to build the Mavs roster and decisions around him. But get real.
Could he end up being of some use in Dallas? Maybe, Or, maybe he won't even last to the start of the season.
But he wasn't a Mavs target. He was just a throw-in as a cheap random "necessary salary" filler piece tossed in to the Richardson deal, to make it cap-legal, but who could be jettisoned later by Dallas if cap space was needed. Has put up some stats on a tanking, bad team (because someone has to get some stats). That's it.
