As for why they would prefer the NO offer, the Grizz are looking for paths to win now. Adams gives them a very useful player at center to replace JV, probably a starter. Bagley is just dead weight.
I am not convinced at all. Memphis is certainly not in win now, they are patiently rebuilding. Taking 9 mil of salary instead of 50 mil is a no brainer. First option would enable them to have 20 mil of cap space. They could find a cheaper center of similar quality than that.
Even from Sac perspective. Dumping Bagley would cost a SRP, max. More realistically someone would still see an upside and offer a second rounder. This would enable them to throw a lot of money at Holmes, who is arguably much better than JV. And they would keep the high pick.
