So Lowry isn't my top choice by any means.....
But seeing how desperate teams are to get Lowry is really interesting. Dallas will have no issue flipping him during the year. He immediately becomes a major asset assuming their is no 3rd year or it's not fully guaranteed.
The rumors that Dallas is looking to clear additional cap space is really interesting.
~112 mill cap. Dallas has ~22 mill of cap space not factoring cap holds. Remove Richardson and it goes up to ~34, remove Powell it goes up to 45. Remove WCS and it goes to just under 50. Split that between Hardaway and Lowry.
You could almost do a 2 for 70 type deal for Lowry if THJ is around 15 mill.
I think contingency plans are being discussed of what to do with Richardson if he opts in, and also looking to move Powell to clear the cap space. Unless it's Maxi.
I don't think Dallas wants to do a KP Lowry SNT. And it's going to be difficult and costly to SNT for Lowry on a sizable deal for the Mavs without including KP. Thus the cap space route. Because they want to retain THJ too. Which this all makes sense. THJ would probably be coming off the bench if they get another guard.
