Does he make the team better? Probably. Does he make the team a contender? Absolutely not. He's 35, will be 36 during the season. When this team is ready to contend, he'll be retired. There is no future in Lowry. Maxi, DFS and Brunson have progressed nicely in the organization as is and for the most part, those guys are old enough and have been in the league long enough to know who they are (fringe starters, quality bench role players). If you want to unlock the teams potential and throw money at an old dude, might as well see if CP3 turns you down first. Lowry probably has more legs in him but if you want a "win" as far as landing a big free agent, CP3 is a much bigger name and better relationship league wide (players/agents). In reality, we don't have the foundation for either guy.
You could probably talk me into this if it was a S&T and we ditched Powell but we'd need to give up too much for that to be a reality.
If this is all true, we better hope KP can turn around his career as a Mav.
THJ is Dwight Powell all over again. Let's hope the contract isn't stupid.
