Illustrious company.
Seven first round losses in a row for Carlisle now. Just maybe this "squeezing lower seeds out of shitty rosters with maximum effort"-approach, while never using the the time to actually develop young players isn´t such a smart strategy afterall.
At the end in the play-offs EVERYBODY PREPARES, EVERYBODY PLAYS HARD and then TALENT WINS.

Cuban won't make a change so it is what it is. He'll be loyal to Donnie and Rick until they want to retire. That's not how it should be, but that's Cuban.

To late for a proper tank. I am just as angry about the mistakes they made in the last few years but with Luka on the roster they are in win now mode.

It's 6 straight 1st round outs for RC by the way.
Not that that's any better...

Terrible offensive system. Copycat of the Morey/Dantoni/Harden Rockets. It's Luka playing 1 on 5 and then everyone else is just coached up to be a floor-spacer to shoot threes...even the #2 scorer you are giving big money to. When a good defensive team shuts that predictable offense down, then you resort to bits like playing Boban and force-feeding the ball because you wasted the last 1-2 years not devising a real offensive system.

Was he favored in any of those? Mavs sneaked into the playoffs and lost against better opponents. That´s how it works.

Just brutal. They’ve also backed themselves into a corner with the moves they’ve made. Still a bunch of 1sts outgoing, not a single pick in the upcoming draft, tough financial decisions ahead.
We have a terrible decision making team. There has to be change quickly or the whole Luka stint is in jeopardy.

No the Mavs have never been favored in any of those.
In fact the Mavs have only ever been favored in 2 series the last decade, against the Blazers and Thunder in 2011. And even then they were doubted.

Looking at the first round series of the last decade:
3-4 against the Spurs (Parker, Duncan, Ginobili, young Kawhi), win it all against Heat
1-4 against the Rockets (Harden, Howard), lose WCF against the Warriors
1-5 against the Thunder (Westbrook, Durant, Ibaka), lose WCF against the Warriors
2-4 against the Clippers (Kawhi, PG), lose 2nd round against the Nuggets
3-4 against the Clppers (Kawhi, PG), ?
In the late Dirk years the opponents probably had the best two players on the floor in all series. In both series against the Clippers Luka could match Kawhi but the Clippers had a way deeper roster.
Don´t know how a different coach would have changed that.

It might be time to change coaches, but Carlisle hasn't been some gatekeeper between the Mavs and success. Quite the opposite, imo. And, if they do go younger at coach, they'd better have one hell of a hotshot waiting for the gig. If they give this job to another Avery Johnson I think I'll try to force myself to become a Spurs fan.
My guess is that Mosely would be first in line if the job was open, and I sincerely hope nobody here actually wants that.

It isn't, but is it on RC
Which young talents he didn't put effort in developing that proved him much wrong ?
Larkin? Aderson? DSJ ?
Cuban is an owner who once said that college players should stay 3 years.
How many times did Cuban slammed NCAA on how they don't develop talents properly?
The guy genuinely believes that it isn't NBA teams job to work on talent development and it should be on college bb
Nah, RC is the last one to blame for that

Rondo knew his playbook which hadn’t changed in 6 years. So he decided to play gimmick ball with Boban in the playoffs. Worked for a minute and then easily adjusted for and defeated. Very shameful and embarrassing coaching display. They should hire Kidd. He turned down the Portland job but might come coach Luka and instill some of his genius in him

Let's face it, the simple key to a better playoff performance is a better regular season performance. If you are not top 4, you'll play a better team in the first round, so a series loss is the expected result.
If you look at the past 10 years, the Mavs regular season results were 7, 10, 8, 7, 6, 11, 13, 14, 7 and 5. Which means in the 10 years since the championship until this year we always meet one of the 3 best teams in the west. So this year actually was the closest we got to not being a 1st round underdog, but if you look at the record, the gap between Clippers at 4 and Mavs at 5 was quite big and they claimed 5th by tiebreaker over 6 and 7 only.
In the last two years there were so many regular season blunders against supposedly weaker teams (most notably NYK last season, SAC this season). These need to be analyzed and eliminated to get to the around .650 to .700 win pct (5 to 8 more wins) that you need to secure home court for at least first playoff round.

You may be on to something here... You HAVE to beat the teams you're supposed to beat.
