Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...
Kemba, 21 first, and future pick traded to OKC for Al Horford, Moses Brown, and a second round pick.
I have no idea what to think of any of the OKC players. Most put up very nice stats, Brown included, but I just get the feeling that was do to opportunity. Brown looked pretty impressive. I think I like this deal for Boston...but will need to think about it. What a fascinating trade though. First trade of the Brad Stevens era vs the Master pick collector.

So Boston cleaned roughly 7 million from their books. Not enough if they want to resign Fournier and stay under the tax.
Boston got their center and might be done. Unless there is more cleaning up to do. Kemba for sure available in OKC if there are any takers. But don't expect OKC to pay assets to trade him.

They may stink for a while, but it must be fun to be an OKC fan now....and they were pretty competitive this year when they were trying to win. I agree that they won't move Kemba by giving up assets. Kemba has 36 million this upcoming year and 37.6 Million as a player option the following. I am reporting he plans to pick that up. Were we really trying to sign Kemba to that much $? Wow....Can you imagine have both KP and Kemba at those contracts? Sometimes the best moves are the ones you lose. I was actually on board with the Kemba signing too....sometimes I can be dumb.

Mikhayluk, Muscala and Bradley might be worth to resign too. They also likely need roster spots because they have to take more salary as they still have around 50 mil of cap space. Just crazy

Hope this is a wake up call to anyone thinking we can get 2(!) picks from a team like Orlando for KP. Or a pick and a prospect for that matter.
KP and Kemba have pretty equal basketball value right now and KPs contract is worse.

I think we can get Harris + Bamba from the Magic for Porzingis, but Cuban would never do that. Maybe the new GM would. It´s more likely that they´ll try to repair/un-do the damage between Doncic - KP - Carlisle. I´d be 100% sure, if Porzingis wasn´t such a health risk, possibly even damaged goods already.

I think KP's value is a whole tier better than Kemba right now. BUT I think KP's value could quickly be the same in a year if there isn't improvement. I am still in the "trade KP this summer" camp.

Hope it was all the coach's fault, or leftover injury trouble? Hope that he's just suddenly not a player who actively hurts the team when he's on the floor next year? What if KP's play doesn't improve? What if it's even worse, or, worst of all, what if he hurts himself in the home opener? I mean, sometimes it's best just to have the '89 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais (on your lawn, on cinder blocks, without wheels or a working engine, missing the passenger side door) towed away. There's a point where holding out for some mythical blue book value is just laughable, right? The goal is to have a nice lawn, not to get a "good price" for the car. Even I think KP is more enticing than Kemba, and that's coming from someone who hasn't closed the book on Kemba. But, to pretend like keeping KP here another season doesn't offer its share of scary risk is not smart, and I sincerely hope Bob, Mark or whoever understands that. NOBODY is in favor of getting less return than what KP is worth. That shouldn't even have to be typed. It's beyond obvious.

Does Trae Young and the Hawks close it out tonight in ATL? Never could take the 76ers seriously this season considering Embiid is never 100% although he is balling out thus far. Huge choke job last game, I am not sure they recover.
ATL also a lot better than their record suggests, lots of injuries, and clearly Lloyd Pierce held them back; McMillan has dominated since he took over. |
